Humans of New York | in order of humanity

Ik ben in een zeer korte tijd een zeer grote fan geworden van een blog. Of, laten we wel wezen, eerder van een Facebookpagina want daar is-ie ook te vinden. De naam is Humans of New York, liefkozend ook wel HONY genoemd. Het is een pagina die overstroomt van de menselijkheid: het wordt volgepost met prachtige foto's en verhalen van prachtige mensen in New York. Het geeft je een klein inkijkje in de werkelijkheid van een ander.
Voor mij zijn dit niet zomaar plaatjes: het leert je dat ieder mens zoveel verhalen met zich meedraagt en zo verschillend en mooi is, maar vooral dat ieder mens respect en tolerantie verdient (hoe sentimenteel en overdreven dit ook mag klinken, ik meen het echt).
Asjeblieft. Asje, asje, asjeblieft. Like Humans of New York. Ja, dat is een bevel en je gaat er geen spijt van krijgen. Kijk nu mee naar wat héle bijzondere voorbeelden!

 At first we kept saying: 'We're going to beat it. We're going to beat it.' Then after awhile we began to realize that we might not beat it. Then toward the end, it became clear that we definitely weren't going to beat it. That's when she started telling me that she wanted me to move on and find happiness with somebody else. But I'm not quite there yet. Not long ago a noise woke me up in the middle of the night, and I rolled over to ask if she needed anything."
